One of the most important things to get right about a ceilidh is of course -THE BAND. They are not all much the same! As in any walk of life the rule is - get in the professionals! and make sure they 'call' the dances for the rookies at your dance. |
Here are a few professional Scottish ceilidh
bands that we can recommend:- Ceilidh Minogue - One of the best bands around featuring some very talented musicians from the Scottish music scene. Always enthusiastic and never fail to make ceilidhs a success. They 'call' all the dances and can even put on disco too. Two Left Feet (Scotland) - from Dumfries & Galloway. A 5 piece line up that that have been together for many years. Gregor Lowrey - One of Scotland's best accordion players. Worked for many years with Irelands Davy Arthur. Box o Bananas - Great fun trio that break into heavy metal at any time! - Loud!

COST: Bands vary a lot in price and often it depends on numbers as well as how far they travel, what night of the week it is and the times involved. Some bands charge as little as £350-£400 but beware of quality. A good quality band is likely to cost anything from £450 up to £800. |
